Description:

Park Jin Young, formerly known professionally as Jr. or Junior, is a South Korean singer, dancer, actor and member of GOT7 (갓세븐). He graduated from Gyeonggi High School and later obtained a bachelor’s degree in Acting from Howon University and is enrolled in the Broadcasting Entertainment program at International Cyber University.

Before debuting, he became a trainee at JYP Entertainment (JYP엔터테인먼트) since 2009, and he made his acting debut first when he appeared in a small role in the KBS drama “Dream High 2” in January 2012.

In May 2012, JYP launched a special project group called JJ PROJECT (제이제이 프로젝트) with him and Jay B. They debuted (he used the stage name Jr. or Junior) with their first EP, “Bounce”. It will later become a sub-unit of GOT7 in 2014.

He then debuted in January 2014 as GOT7’s sub-vocalist, visual, center and face of the group with their first EP, “Got It?”. The group gained attention almost immediately thanks to their live performances and the inclusion of complicated martial arts tricking (a combination of kicks with flips and twists) and street dancing. Months later, they debuted in Japan with the single “Around the World” and began expanding their market to Southeast Asia and the United States.

In August 2016, he began using his real name as there was so much confusion regarding the correct pronunciation of his stage name.

In January 2021, he decided not to renew his contract with JYP and left the agency. He then signed with BH Entertainment (비에이치엔터테인먼트).

In January 2023, he made his debut as a solo artist with the mini-album “Chapter 0: With”. Later that year, he won the Best New Actor Award at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards for his role in the film “A Christmas Carol” (크리스마스 캐럴).

He enlisted for his mandatory military service on May 8, 2023, and was discharged on November 7, 2024.

JYP agreed to let them keep the GOT7 name, and while they are currently without management, the group’s music is distributed by Kakao Entertainment (카카오엔터테인먼트). They reunited for several fan events in 2022 and released a new album titled “Winter Heptagon” in January 2025.
