Description:
Hwang Min Hyun is a South Korean singer, dancer, actor and former member of NU’EST (뉴이스트) and WANNA ONE (워너원). He graduated from Seoul Broadcasting High School and later obtained a bachelor’s degree in Theater and Film from Inha University. He is currently enrolled in the Applied Music program at Hanyang University.
He made his debut in March 2012 as NU’EST’s lead vocalist and visual with their first single, “Face”. While they enjoyed some initial success, their following releases began experiencing a commercial decline.
So, Pledis Entertainment (플레디스 엔터테인먼트) looked to create a special project unit targeting the Chinese market called NU’EST-M (뉴이스트-엠). All members joined Chinese trainee Fu Long Fei (also known professionally as Jason) from Yue Hua Entertainment (위에화 엔터테인먼트) and released Chinese versions of singles “Face” and “Sleep Talking” in November 2013. However, the partnership lasted only a few months as Jason returned to China and the unit disbanded in early 2014.
By 2017, Pledis was thinking about disbanding NU’EST, so 4 out of the 5 members (Aron was injured at the time) entered the survival show “Produce 101 Season 2”. He managed to end up in 9th place, earning a spot in the resulting project group. He later signed with Swing Entertainment (스윙엔터테인먼트) and re-debuted in August 2017 as WANNA ONE’s lead vocalist with their first mini-album, “1X1=1 (To Be One)”.
The contract was made for one year and six months, so the group officially disbanded in January 2019 following their final concert performance, and he returned to Pledis.
He made his theatrical debut in 2019 with a role in the musical “Marie Antoinette”. Then, he made his acting debut with a role in the 2020 web drama “Live On” (라이브온).
His contract expired in March 2022 and the group released the compilation album “Needle & Bubble” marking their 10th anniversary and also officially disbanding. He decided to re-sign with Pledis.
He made his solo debut in February 2023 with his first mini-album, “Truth or Lie”.
He enlisted for his mandatory military service on March 21, 2024, and was discharged on December 20, 2025.
