Lee Chae Min is in discussions to star alongside Girls’ Generation’s YoonA in the highly anticipated tvN fantasy romance drama The Tyrant’s Chef!
On January 13, a media outlet reported that Lee Chae Min is currently in talks for a lead role in the upcoming series. His agency, GOLDMEDALIST, later confirmed,
“Lee Chae Min received an offer [to star in] The Tyrant’s Chef and is reviewing the offer positively.”
The Tyrant’s Chef follows the story of a talented chef who, at the height of her career, unexpectedly travels back in time. There, she encounters a notorious king infamous for being a tyrant but also renowned as the ultimate foodie. The drama will be directed by Jang Tae Yoo, the visionary behind hits like My Love from the Star, Lovers of the Red Sky, and Knight Flower.
YoonA has been offered the titular role of the chef, while Park Sung Hoon was initially in talks to play the male lead. However, following a controversy in late December, Park Sung Hoon stepped down from the project despite multiple apologies from both him and his agency.
Lee Chae Min, who gained widespread recognition for his performance in tvN’s Crash Course in Romance, has been making waves in the industry. He recently secured the lead role in Netflix’s Hierarchy and will also star in MBC’s upcoming Friday-Saturday drama Bunny and the Boys.
With a star-studded lineup and an intriguing storyline, The Tyrant’s Chef is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about dramas of the year.
